Director: Dr. Joseph R. Bidwell

The Ecotoxicology and Water Quality Research Laboratory (EWQRL) is located in Life Sciences West and is part of the Zoology Department at OSU. It was established in the 1960s as the Reservoir Research Center under the direction of Dr. Troy C. Dorris. In 1977, Dr. S. L. Burks became Director and subsequently changed the name to the Water Quality Research Laboratory (WQRL) to more accurately reflect the breadth of the areas of research and expertise. The current name reflects the developing scope of the lab to include both standardized aquatic toxicity assessments and research on the ecological impact of contaminants and other sources of habitat degradation.
