PhD Assistantship in Hormones & Behavior

Applications are encouraged from students interested in working on an NSF-funded project investigating maternal effects via yolk hormone transfer in green anole lizards. I will be accepting 1-2 PhD students into my lab beginning Summer or Fall 2008. Students can expect to receive quality training in laboratory (and potentially field) techniques for studying endocrinology and behavior, specifically regarding why female anoles deposit steroids into their egg yolks and what effects those steroids have on their offspring. Students also can expect to receive quality mentoring with the goal of supporting and enhancing all aspects of professional development. Financial support will be provided year-round through a combination of teaching and research assistantships; a full tuition waiver and paid health insurance also are included.

Interested students should send (preferably by email) a cover letter stating their interests along with a resume or CV to Dr. Matt Lovern (contact info below) for further consideration. Prior to enrollment into the PhD Program students must have completed a BS in Zoology, Biology, or a related field. Full application guidelines, information about students and faculty in the Department of Zoology, and about OSU in general can be found at http://zoology.okstate.edu/index.htm. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis but must be complete no later than 1 February 2008. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
